AARP offers 2 courses designed to meet the needs of older drivers.
AARP SAFE DRIVER'S COURSE
Several topics will be covered, including how to compensate for changes in vision, hearing and reaction time; how medications may affect driving; how to handle problem situations such as left turns, right-of-way, freeway traffic, trucks, blind spots, and aggressive drivers; and more. In Pennsylvania, everyone who successfully completes this course should check with their insurance for a possible discount on automobile insurance for three years. If both husband and wife drive, they both must complete the class to receive the discount. This is an eight-hour class held over 2 days and participants must attend both days.
AARP REFRESHER COURSE
This course is for those who have taken the eight-hour AARP SAFE DRIVER COURSE and their certification needs to be renewed. This course will cover everything required to keep your certification current. Participants need to bring verification they have completed the eight-hour course by presenting either a copy of their certification from AARP or information from the insurance company.
